It's The Anointing Sermon Notes - Week 1

Is. 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. (NKJV)
We’ve said this before about the contrast between the Old and New Covenant:• The Old is more about exterior • The New interior • Old – (Israel fought other nations and they used swords)• New – (the church deals with the spiritual)
We’ve also mentioned some scriptures can have dual interpretations: • The context they’re mentioned in • And something outside their context – can be prophetic – or a universal principle
For example: Psalm 22 is referring to David but the significance of the passage refers to Christ on the cross.

We’ll consider this scripture in context:• And then look at how it can help us outside it’s context
Identifying Enemies
In Context:
Is. 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. (NKJV)
Who’s “his burden and his yoke?• The yoke and burden here is Assyria• In context – (this is a nation)• Assyria became a thorn in Israel’s side • A yoke and burden to Israel • Assyria grew strong and Israel wasn’t coming out on the winning side
You see how they grew strong here:
Is. 10:12 When the Lord has finished all his work on Mount Zion and on Jerusalem, he will punish the speech of the arrogant heart of the king of Assyria and the boastful look in his eyes. (ESV)

Assyria was puffed up: • Arrogance and boastful looks
Is. 10:14 My hand has found like a nest the wealth of the peoples; and as one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth; and there was none that moved a wing or opened the mouth or chirped.” (ESV) The pride and arrogance here: • Robbing and oppressing people • Stealing from them
The Assyria problem was beyond anything Israel could solve on their own
What kills, steal, and destroys people who live under the New Covenant?• The devil of course• Sickness, disease, oppression, depression are his doings
Things that kill steal and destroy go beyond our own abilities to undo them
Here is the solution God prophesies to Israel:
Is. 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, and his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. (NKJV)

Breaking it down: • An appointed day will come• The burden and yoke will be destroyed • It’s the anointing oil that will do it
The way the Lord planned to remove the burden and destroy the yoke:• Is quite interesting
Is. 10:27b and the yoke shall be destroyed by reason of fatness. (ASV)
Is. 10:27b and his yoke from your neck; and the yoke will be broken because of the fat. (ESV)
Is. 10:27b the yoke will be taken off because your neck will be too large. (NET)
Is. 10:27b The yoke shall be destroyed because of fatness [which prevents it from going around your neck]. (AMP)
Is. 10:27b the yoke will be broken because you have grown so fat. (NET)
Assyria robbed and plundered Israel:• There was a day coming when the anointing oil • Fatness, oil, or prosperity, blessing, growth, will break Assyria’s yoke
“It’s the Anointing that Does the Work”

Fast forward and here comes Jesus to earth: • Jesus came to an earth that was filled with sickness Just as the King of Assyria was gloating over the Israelites:• Whom he plundered • The devil – who kills – steals – and destroys – was gloating over his prey
The King of Assyria robbed wealth:The anointing restored what the King robbed
The devil robbed health:• The anointing Jesus brought restored what the devil robbed
The King of Assyria didn’t see the day of the anointing coming:• Probably said after his yoke over Israel was broken – “I didn’t see that coming”
The same thing happened to the devil when Jesus showed up:
Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power. He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. (ESV)
It’s the Anointing That Did the Work• The anointing fights our enemies• The anointing overcomes our enemies • The anointing defeats our enemies
In the same way that Israel’s yoke was broken because of the fatness:• They became more blessed, larger, more powerful • it broke the yoke off of them
The anointing power of God is more powerful than the
Luke 11:21 When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are safe;Luke 11:22 but when one stronger than he attacks him and overcomes him, he takes away his armour in which he trusted and divides his spoil. (ESV)

1 John 4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. (KJV)
The oil that flows through our hands:• Fights our enemies • Overcomes our enemies• Defeats our enemies
The yokes of: • Oppression – depression • Sickness – disease
Mark 16:18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.  (KJV)
Your hands:• How do you see your hands?• Vehicles for the anointing oil to flow • The fatness of God’s presence • As weapons that fight and overcome sickness and disease
When hands are laid on you:• Imagine how much power flows through the hands that are laid on you • Power that can break the yoke of sickness, disease, pain, oppression

Today:
• If you have pain, sickness, disease in your body• Please imagine the immense power that God graciously allows to flow through our hands • See that power as superior to the pain, sickness, disease, oppression • Able to break the yoke

Zechariah 4:1 Now the angel who talked with me came back and wakened me, as a man who is wakened out of his sleep.

Zechariah 4:2 And he said to me, “What do you see?” So I said, “I am looking, and there is a lampstand of solid gold with a bowl on top of it, and on the stand seven lamps with seven pipes to the seven lamps.

Zechariah 4:3 Two olive trees are by it, one at the right of the bowl and the other at its left.”

Zechariah 4:4 So I answered and spoke to the angel who talked with me, saying, “What are these, my lord?”

Zechariah 4:5 Then the angel who talked with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

Zechariah 4:6 So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts.” (NKJV)

One: The Name SoS 1:3.

Acts 3:16 “And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which comes through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.” (NKJV)

Two: The Word

John 6:63 “The Spirit alone gives eternal life. Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life.” (NLT)

Three: You – vessel

1 John 2:20 But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things. (NKJV)

1John 2:27 But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him. (NKJV)

It's The Anointing Sermon Notes - Week 3

Is. 10:27 It shall come to pass in that day that his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil. (NKJV)

Is. 10:27 At that time the LORD will remove their burden from your shoulders, and their yoke from your neck; the yoke will be taken off because your neck will be too large. (NET)

How big the yoke and burden doesn’t matter – the fatness of the anointing will overwhelm them

The anointing will break the yoke and lift the burden

Today: 6 Helps to Dispense the Anointing

  • Or we could say giving out
  • Or administering
  1. Know Your Equipment

What has God given us:

  • That we can use
  • We have small and large artillery

Acts 3:6 But Peter said, “I have no silver and gold, but what I do have I give to you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk!” (ESV)

Peter knew what he had:

  • When we know what we have
  • We then know we can give it

ILLUSTRATION: I can give this iPad to you because I know it’s mine to give

River of Life Flowing from Us:

  • Word of God – Truth sets free
  • Our Hands
  • Supernatural Gifts – Power for ministry
  1. Determining How

When we don’t determine

STORY: lady and her teeth

  • Lady with issue

Mark 5:27 She had heard the reports about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his garment.

Mark 5:28 For she said, “If I touch even his garments, I will be made well.” (ESV)

  • Roman centurion

Matt. 8:6 “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.”

Matt. 8:7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.”

Matt. 8:8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. (ESV)

EXAMPLE: Someone comes up to you and asks you to agree and you speak the Word to a situation

Who controlled the destiny of these two people?

  • They did
  • People who are confused about the will of God sit around and wait
  • Even make up reasons for why God isn’t doing something

When we determine

John 5:5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years.

John 5:6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” (ESV)

John 5:8 Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” (ESV)

Jesus determined how he would dispense the anointing:

  • Just like Jesus we also can determine how we minister to someone

Looking back at our tools:

  • Word of God – Truth sets free
  • Our Hands
  • Supernatural Gifts – Power for ministry

Determine what is the best path to dispense the anointing?

  • Have the gifts of spirit manifest
    • A word of knowledge
    • Gifts of healing
  • Teach someone from the bible – so they know how to receive on their own
    • Then lay hands on them
  1. Can’t Buy the Anointing

We can be anointed differently:

  • Ministry gifts
  • Spiritual gifts

Acts 8:19 saying, “Give me this power also, so that anyone on whom I lay my hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

Acts 8:20 But Peter said to him, “May your silver perish with you, because you thought you could obtain the gift of God with money! (ESV)

The following are ways we think we can buy the anointing: (other than money)

  • Begging for it
  • Earning it with good works
  • Crying for it
  • Working up a feeling

Know it’s by grace:

  • God’s anointing and gifts are free
  • Although they are free consecration and
  1. Willingness and Compassion

A great story in the bible:

  • It’s commonly called the Good Samaritan
  • The main reason he is called good is because he was willing and compassionate

Luke 10:30 Jesus replied with a story: “A Jewish man was traveling from Jerusalem down to Jericho, and he was attacked by bandits. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him up, and left him half dead beside the road.

Luke 10:31 “By chance a priest came along. But when he saw the man lying there, he crossed to the other side of the road and passed him by.

Luke 10:32 A Temple assistant walked over and looked at him lying there, but he also passed by on the other side.

Luke 10:33 “Then a despised Samaritan came along, and when he saw the man, he felt compassion for him.

Luke 10:34 Going over to him, the Samaritan soothed his wounds with olive oil and wine and bandaged them. Then he put the man on his own donkey and took him to an inn, where he took care of him. (NLT)

  1. Prepare

STORY: Nunzio

  • Took train
  • Prepared myself

James 5:14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

James 5:15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. (ESV)

  1. Windows of Opportunity

STORY: Scott Behrman

Acts 14:7 and there they continued to preach the gospel.

Acts 14:8 Now at Lystra there was a man sitting who could not use his feet. He was crippled from birth and had never walked.

Acts 14:9 He listened to Paul speaking. And Paul, looking intently at him and seeing that he had faith to be made well,

Acts 14:10 said in a loud voice, “Stand upright on your feet.” And he sprang up and began walking. (ESV)

Practical: Final Thoughts

  • Walk with Him
    • Stay in close fellowship with the Lord
    • Verses running from Him
    • Father – Jesus never mentioned His earthly father
  • Remember our mouths and hands contain miracles waiting to happen
    • We deliver the anointing with our mouth and hands
  • Expect a powerful anointing in any setting
    • Jesus ministered one on one as well as to the multitude
  • Determine your path of ministry
    • Some start with building a friendship
    • Jesus sat and ate with people – but He also ministered quickly to most
    • Sit down and share scripture
  • Awareness of starting and stopping points
    • Sensitivity – Nunzio – spent all day with him – ministry time was only 15 to 20 minutes
    • Don’t go beyond – can dilute the power
    • “A Word in season” – not a book in season
