But what we share today will help you “seek” the Lord whether you fast or not.

Whether or not you join this Feb Fast is between you and the Lord.

Don’t just abstain. PRAY.

Seek God

Bible terminology

Is He Lost?

How Do I Seek God

Believe something is going to change or happen

Change YOU!!

Prayer, fasting, reading or listening to more of the word

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”

Hebrews 11:6 NLT

What about people who haven’t be really walking with God. Not in a good place…….

“But from there you will search again for the Lord your God. And if you search for him with all your heart and soul, you will find him.”

Deuteronomy 4:29 NLT

Do you have to be living in victory to be able to pray?

“While Jeremiah was still confined in the courtyard of the guard, the Lord gave him this second message: “This is what the Lord says—the Lord who made the earth, who formed and established it, whose name is the Lord: Ask me and I will tell you remarkable secrets you do not know about things to come.”

Jeremiah 33:1-3 NLT

EVERYONE who seeks will find. Matt 7:7

Why do people seek God?

Problem – personal or national

Hezekiah in Is 38 – turned his face to the wall and Esther 4

Judah, where Jehoshaphat was king was surrounded by the enemy.

“Jehoshaphat was terrified by this news and begged the Lord for guidance. He also ordered everyone in Judah to begin fasting. So people from all the towns of Judah came to Jerusalem to seek the Lord’s help.”

2 Chronicles 20:3-4 NLT

He prayed, “O Lord, God of our ancestors, you alone are the God who is in heaven. You are ruler of all the kingdoms of the earth. You are powerful and mighty; no one can stand against you!”

2 Chronicles 20: 6 NLT

“O our God, won’t you stop them? We are powerless against this mighty army that is about to attack us. We do not know what to do, but we are looking to you for help.” As all the men of Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, wives, and children,”

2 Chronicles 20:12-13 NLT

“I publicly proclaim bold promises. I do not whisper obscurities in some dark corner. I would not have told the people of Israel to seek me if I could not be found. I, the Lord, speak only what is true and declare only what is right.”

Isaiah 45:19 NLT

Problems are not the only reason why we seek God.

Promises that are for you, family, the body of Christ

“During the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from reading the word of the Lord, as revealed to Jeremiah the prophet, that Jerusalem must lie desolate for seventy years. So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and fasting. I also wore rough burlap and sprinkled myself with ashes.”

Daniel 9:2-3 NLT

Who is going pull on the promise if you don’t

Promises show what God’s will is.

Preparing Your Heart

“I said, ‘Plant the good seeds of righteousness, and you will harvest a crop of love. Plow up the hard ground of your hearts, for now is the time to seek the Lord, that he may come and shower righteousness upon you.’”

Hosea 10:12 NLT

“Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.”

Psalms 105:4 NLT

Connecting what Tony shared last week

Go beyond yourself this month

“What good is fasting when you keep on fighting and quarreling? This kind of fasting will never get you anywhere with me.”

Isaiah 58:4 NLT

““No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people.”

Isaiah 58:6 NLT

Care of the poor and needy.

Is. 58:9 Then when you call, the LORD will answer. ‘Yes, I am here,’ he will quickly reply. “Remove the heavy yoke of oppression. Stop pointing your finger and spreading vicious rumours!

Is. 58:10 Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as noon.

Is. 58:11 The LORD will guide you continually, giving you water when you are dry and restoring your strength. You will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring.

Is. 58:12 Some of you will rebuild the deserted ruins of your cities. Then you will be known as a rebuilder of walls and a restorer of homes.” (NLT)

Psa. 27:1 The LORD is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?

Psa. 27:2 When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.

Psa. 27:3 Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.

Psa. 27:4 The one thing I ask of the LORD—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD’s perfections and meditating in his Temple.

Psa. 27:5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.

Psa. 27:6 Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the LORD with music.

Psa. 27:7 Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me!

Psa. 27:8 My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “LORD, I am coming.” (NLT)
