Guest Speaker – Ps John Huizing

Colossians 1:9 “For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding” (NKJV)

Br Hagin has said that ‘God is looking for strong local churches – strong in the Word and the Spirit’.

Paul prayed that we would be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding. We know that it is His will that we be healed, that we prosper and that our families be saved. ALL the promises of God in Christ are ‘yes and amen’ (2 Cor 1:20).

So, knowing His will for us in these areas of healing, prosperity and family, is a good place to start. But we still need to be Spirit-led. We can make up our own minds about things but we cannot dictate HOW it will happen. Look at the example of Naaman in the Old Testament (2 Kings 5:1-15). He came to the prophet of God but had made up his own mind about how the prophet would respond to him. Yet, Elisha’s response was very different. It did not measure up to Naaman’s expectations. The reality of what he was to do was so different that he decided to go home. (Fortunately) Naaman’s servant suggested that he do as he was instructed.

We can know the will of God but be stupid about putting it into practice. We need to be Spirit-led. We know it is His will to meet our needs – but how will it happen? We also need to be Spirit-led when seeking a marriage partner as well as in our business dealings and decisions.

Ways to Qualify

There are things we need to do in order to qualify to be led by the Spirit (ie hear the voice of God) – so we can hear clearly.

1. Embrace Jesus as our Lord

When Jesus is our Lord, God is closer to us than any other human being because He lives on the inside of us. We become a new creation (2 Cor 5:17). This does not just mean that we are now going to Heaven. Being born again means that something has happened on the inside of us. Sin has been COMPLETELY eradicated from our lives and Heaven moved in. God is walking in us. He has easy access to us.

Jeremiah 24:7 “And I will give them a heart to know me, that I am the Lord: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God” (KJV)

2. We are to be Filled with the Holy Spirit

Rev Col Stringer (Sunday, 15 Nov 2015) spoke of the power available to us through the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is inside of us and can speak through us. We pray in tongues and He can say things to us and through us. We can then go from the prayer room to the natural realm. There are people in our lives that MUST meet divine appointments. BUT we cannot orchestrate them.

John Huizing’s personal testimony

The Lord said to me: there are places to go, people you must meet, special things to say, special things to do. However, everything can fall apart. We can ask ourselves ‘did I hear right?’ But, stick with it. Get on your knees and pray it out. An example of this in my own life relates to a mission trip to the northern region of Uganda – Gulu. As soon as we arrived, everything fell apart. Nothing went as planned. But, God orchestrated something different. We ended up holding meetings in completely different churches and 2 new churches were established as a result. An Ethiopian Muslim woman was saved and took us to her village – a completely Muslim village. The elders of this village had recognized the blessing of God on this woman and knew that their village was blessed because of her. They said that if we bought the woman a car, their entire village would become Christians. We bought the car.

How did all this happen? We prayed it out.

The more we do this, the more we will come to know the will of God. We will be filled with the knowledge of His will.

He has different ways. Praying in tongues prays it out. Pathways are created. Doorways are opened.
