The Confident Heart and Fruitfulness

God Planned for Us to be Fruitful

John 14:20 In that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. (ESV)

We hear phrases outside Christianity like:

Jesus Said We Could Bear Fruit

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

The Epistles Tell Us We Can Bear Fruit

Eph. 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)

What is fruitfulness?

Some think it’s:

Jesus Associated Fruitfulness with Prayer

John 15:7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.

John 15:8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. (ESV)

Legacy that lasts for eternity is legacy that originates IN and of Christ.

Could we say it this way then?

We could say:

Eph. 2:10 For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. (NLT)

That is our coming in…Coming in and being refreshed, feeding, praying from our place in Christ

Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to your servants to continue to speak your word with all boldness,

Acts 4:30 while you stretch out your hand to heal, and signs and wonders are performed through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

Acts 4:31 And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness. (ESV)

Five Things That Help Us Be Fruitful

One: Enter

John 1:12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.

John 1:13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God. (NLT)

He is the way the truth and the life

NOTE: there will be an invitation to receive Him

Two: Abide

John 15:4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

John 15:5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. (ESV)

1 John 3:18 Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.

1 John 3:19 By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him;

1 John 3:24 Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us. (ESV)

2 Commandments:

What does love produce?
