Reminder of some past words:

The Believer’s Arsenal – a collection or supply of weapons or munitions.

Sword of Spirit

Eph. 6:13 Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.

Eph. 6:14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

Eph. 6:15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.

Eph. 6:16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;

Eph. 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, (ESV)

Different Ways – We’ve previously mentioned some different ways to release faith

Jesus Spoke God’s Word

Mark 11:13 And seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, he went to see if he could find anything on it. When he came to it, he found nothing but leaves, for it was not the season for figs.

Mark 11:14 And he said to it, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And his disciples heard it. (ESV)

Mark 11:20 As they passed by in the morning, they saw the fig tree withered away to its roots.

Mark 11:21 And Peter remembered and said to him, “Rabbi, look! The fig tree that you cursed has withered.” (ESV)

Matt. 8:8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. (ESV)

Question: Can we send His Word to heal?

STORY: B Black – Best man – very sick – Ps – what does B call me? Pastor – be healed – C fell to the ground it was so powerful and her hubby recovered

How Some Have Gone Off

What the Sword of the Spirit Does

One: It Works in Us

Heb. 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Heb. 4:13 And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. (NKJ)

Heb. 4:12 For God’s Message is full of life and power, and is keener than the sharpest two-edged sword. It pierces even to the severance of soul from spirit, and penetrates between the joints and the marrow, and it can discern the secret thoughts and purposes of the heart.

Heb. 4:13 And no created thing is able to escape its scrutiny; but everything lies bare and completely exposed before the eyes of Him with whom we have to do. (Weymouth)

God’s Word is not a dead book – it is alive and full of power

God’s Word is a serious weapon that works both IN us and FOR us

(sometimes when you’re not well it’s a real decision to pick up the sword and use it “for you” – because it first needs to be used “in you”)

It makes us soldiers who both desire and are empowered to pick the sword up to use “for us”

2 Tim. 3:16 Every Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for convincing, for correction of error, and for instruction in right doing;

2 Tim. 3:17 so that the man of God may himself be complete and may be perfectly equipped for every good work. (Weymouth)

The most important document for the child of God is the written word of God:

Without God’s Word we have nothing to stand on

Without His Word we will develop our own belief system based on theory and supposition.

If we choose to formulate our own belief system without submitting to the Word of God, we will build our life on sinking sand.

The Word of God is the plum line – straight and true – setting us and keeping us on course.

PIC

The Word of God is the Rock upon which we establish our lives; without it the Church is lost.

Heb. 4:12 For God’s Message is full of life and power, and is keener than the sharpest two-edged sword. It pierces even to the severance of soul from spirit, and penetrates between the joints and the marrow, and it can discern the secret thoughts and purposes of the heart.

God’s Word exposes even the thoughts and purposes of people’s hearts.

Most of the world doesn’t know: Spirit – Soul – Body

Man has a threefold nature:

1. Spirit: The dimension of man which deals with the spiritual realm. The part of man that knows God.

2. Soul: The dimension of man which deals with the mental realm. Man’s intellect. The sensibilities and will. The part that reasons and thinks.

3. Body: The dimension of man which deals with the physical realm. The house in which we live.”

“It pierces even to the severance of soul from spirit, and penetrates between the joints and the marrow, and it can discern the secret thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

It pierces even to the severance of soul from spirit:

In thinking about this we may say it this way:

1 Pet. 1:23 Because you have had a new birth, not from the seed of man, but from eternal seed, through the word of a living and unchanging God. (BBE)

Heb. 8:10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (ESV)

Is there anyone in the entire universe that can:

God’s Word is the only thing that can impart “truth” to our spirits – that is God’s truth:

Rom. 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. (ESV)

Two: God Confirms It When We Preach It

Mark 16:20 And they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the message by accompanying signs. (ESV)

Mark 16:20 and they, having gone forth, did preach everywhere, the Lord working with [them], and confirming the word, through the signs following. Amen. (Youngs)

God actually needs us to teach and preach His Word, so He can confirm it.

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel…”

Three: It Works for Us

We are required to find either a written promise or we must have genuine Holy Spirit direction in order that faith comes into our heart

Looking at this scripture one more time:

Mark 11:22 And Jesus answered them, “Have faith in God.

Mark 11:23 Truly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be taken up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will come to pass, it will be done for him. (ESV)
